The CARIBE Refugee Program offers refugee-specific English Language Instruction in six centralized classroom sites, each equipped with state-of-the art computer labs. CARIBE’s team of teachers are recognized by the district for their excellence in classroom instruction and high completion rates. CARIBE teachers constantly participate in professional development which empowers them to better serve refugee students. The refugee-specific model of classroom instruction is sensitive to students’ needs, and differentiated according to students’ career goals.
CARIBE sites are located all across the county to increase the refugee population’s access to adult education. CARIBE offers all eight levels of ESOL from Literacy to Academic English. CARIBE’s ESOL Program incorporates computer literacy, civics, citizenship, and college/career readiness standards into daily classroom instruction. CARIBE provides its students with transportation assistance; referrals for other services such as child care providers, legal services, heath services, and employment providers; access to financial literacy classes, introduction to health careers, and educational counseling.
All of CARIBE's school sites are equipped with a computer lab, allowing students to practice their English Language and computing skills. CARIBE's computer labs uses the following software: Tell Me More (by Rosetta Stone), Easy ESL, Florida Choices, Career Pathways, Burlington English and Ventures Arcade.
